After graduating with a degree in Astrophysics in 1995, Raúl Martínez Morales, started working as an educator and astronomical populariser. He soon discovered that this was his vocation.

In 1997 he first came in contact with the world of planetariums using an old ZEISS ZKP2 system. In 2000 he built his first planetarium, with a projector and celestial globe with small holes that were drilled with very fine watchmaker's drills to display stars.

He started using digital planetariums in 2006 when he acquired a Digitarium Alpha 2, and thus became the first travelling digital planetarium in Spain. Passionate about the ease of use and versatility of the Digitarium systems, he became the official distributor of Digitalis in Spain in 2007, introducing the brand to dozens of new users throughout the country.

Currently Raúl continues to represent Digitalis, combining it with astronomical education at the Almería Planetarium, a fixed installation of 7m, that reaches a brightness of 21.6 arcSec² at the zenith (SQM). Here you can observe the sky in a place where the nights are still dark.

Raul is passionate about teaching the apparent movements in the sky, and especially astronomical navigation to students and sailors who still love to learn the old techniques of navigation without GPS.
